Frequently Asked Questions
We understand you may have questions before starting your journey to a pain-free life. Below, we’ve answered the most common queries about our treatments, clinic policies, and what to expect during your visit to Manchester Back Care.
Do I need a referral?
No, a referral is not required. Chiropractic care is classed as primary care meaning appointments can be booked directly without seeing a GP or other healthcare professional first.
Is there parking?
Whilst there is no designated clinic parking, parking is free on Ward Street as well as on many of the surrounding streets. There is also some free of charge parking in the car park behind Hispi.
Do you accept insurance?
Many private health insurance companies cover the cost of chiropractic treatment but we advise you check with your insurance company about the available level of cover and whether GP referral is required. We do not accept Bupa.
Our policy is that patients pay after each appointment and that the fees are reclaimed from their insurance company.
It is the patient’s responsibility to ensure their insurance will cover treatment prior to attending the appointment.
What do I need to wear?
Please wear suitable clothing to allow you to move freely and, if necessary, show the area(s) of complaint easily to your clinician. A gown can be provided if necessary.
Will the treatment hurt?
Chiropractic treatment is generally not painful, though some patients may experience mild discomfort during or after certain adjustments especially if a sensitive area is being treated. Any discomfort is usually temporary and should subside quickly.
How many treatments do I need to get better?
The number of chiropractic treatments needed varies depending on the condition, its severity, and how your body responds. For acute issues, many patients notice some improvement after a single visit but often, more frequent visits are recommended in the first few weeks to achieve meaningful relief. Early treatment may involve 2 or 3 visits in the first week, reducing as progress is made.
For longer-standing or chronic conditions care may be spread over a longer period with occasional check ups recommended to help prevent symptoms from returning. Your chiropractor will create a personalised treatment plan tailored to your needs and will monitor your progress, adjusting the approach as required.
Can I bring someone with me?
Yes, you are welcome to bring someone with you to your chiropractic appointment if it makes you feel more comfortable.
